Provenance: Private collection, Florida

Dave McGary (1958–2013) was one of the foremost contemporary sculptors of Native American subjects, internationally recognized for his remarkable ability to capture both the physical presence and inner spirit of his figures and wildlife. Working primarily in bronze, McGary combined meticulous anatomical accuracy with a deep respect for the natural world, producing sculptures distinguished by their lifelike detail, dynamic composition, and emotional resonance. His works are held in prominent private and public collections and are highly regarded within the field of Western and wildlife art.

Bears Nest exemplifies McGary's exceptional talent for portraying wildlife with both realism and vitality. The sculpture captures an intimate moment in nature, emphasizing the strength, protective instinct, and quiet dignity of its subjects through carefully modeled forms and expressive movement. Richly textured surfaces and a balanced composition demonstrate the artist's mastery of bronze as a medium, while the work's limited edition casting enhances its desirability among collectors. From a private Florida collection, Bears Nest represents an outstanding example of McGary's celebrated contribution to contemporary Western sculpture.
