Provenance:
'The Timbers' Boys Camp, Mullet Lake, Topinabee, Michigan
Earl E. Styles, Gaylord, Michigan
This painting was rescued by the current owners' great-grandfather (Earl E. Styles) when he went to make an appraisal of property at 'The Timbers', a boys camp located on Mullet Lake near Topinabee, Michigan. The camp was scheduled for demolition. This painting and two others by Schoonover (as well as seven other original illustrations by Stockton Mulford) were being used as window coverings. The appraiser, Earl E. Styles, made an offer of $5 each for each of the ten, and the offer was accepted. They have since hung in the offices or homes of descended family.
