If you are shipping your items out of state, you may or may not have to pay tax for your state. After the auction, if you are the winning bidder you will be emailed the link to our Shipping Form to fill out (as soon as possible). The form requires a credit card. In addition to the $100 per lot deposit included on your invoice for shipping, your card will be charged and you will receive an updated invoice for any charges over and above the deposit for the cost of shipping (including the box(es), carrier fees and $50 handling per lot).

IMPORTANT: If you choose to coordinate shipping through a third party shipping company or pickup your items from the auction we are required by Arizona State law to charge Arizona sales tax on this transaction AND our insurance will not cover the shipment.

Suspended in a split second of explosive movement, a cowboy struggles to stay aboard a bucking horse while an enraged bull charges into the fray, creating a composition that is as dynamic as it is dramatic. Every angle reveals new energy, from the twisting figures to the rugged terrain beneath them, reflecting Speed's keen understanding of anatomy, balance, and motion.
 
A celebrated sculptor of the contemporary American West, Speed has built a reputation for transforming rodeo and ranch life into compelling bronze compositions that honor the grit, courage, and unpredictability of the cowboy tradition. Rather than simply recording an event, his work conveys the intensity and emotion of life in the arena, making each sculpture feel alive long after the action has ended. Cast as number 2 from an edition of 30 and acquired through the Texas Art Gallery Auction in 2005, When Two are Too Many is an outstanding example of the artist's ability to fuse technical excellence with the enduring excitement of Western sport.
