Provenance: Trailside Galleries, Jackson Hole, WY Private collection, West Lake, TX Jackson Hole Art Auction, Jackson Hole, WY, 2019 Private collection, California Utah painter Jim Norton was thoroughly exposed to ranch life and cowboying—both in the United States and in Australia, where he served a two-year religious mission—which added authenticity to his artwork. Additionally, Norton had many artists in his family, and he also studied under the great William Whitaker at Brigham Young University. By the time he struck off on his own, he shot forward quickly in his career. In 1989 he was inducted into the Cowboy Artists of America, where he won numerous awards and gold medals.
