Provenance: The artist, 1977 The daughter of an illustrator father and portraitist mother—and neighbor of John Clymer and Bob Kuhn—Lanford Monroe had quick and easy access to art as she grew up in Connecticut. By the age of 6 she was taking commissions. After her art education in Florida, Monroe traveled around North America and painted watercolors before eventually abandoning the medium to paint in oils. She eventually settled near Taos, New Mexico, where she painted landscapes and scenes of wildlife, and also created horses in bronze.
