Beginning his career as a newspaper cartoonist working with James Swinnerton, Clyde Forsythe brushed brushes with many of the greatest American artists in the Western deserts he loved. He painted with Maynard Dixon, hobnobbed with Russell and Borein and introduced Norman Rockwell to the Saturday Evening Post. Paintings like Agatha’s Needle, show traces of an Art Deco graphic sensibility in their rounded shapes and surprising contrasts in color.
