As Ed Trumble tells it, legendary actor Slim Pickins once observed that Frank Polk had “ a face that looks like it wore out three bodies!” Polk was a cowboy raconteur, spinner of windies, wood carver, and bronze maker. A Long Rope and a Telescope is an autobiographical work, depicting the artist as a wild cow hunter in younger days.
