Oleg Stavrowsky stumbled into art after serving in World War II, and from commercial art, he made the leap into illustration. In 1969, Stavrowsky, on a whim it seems, stumbled into the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City and decided then and there to give “Cowboys and Indians” a try. He’s been at it ever since. Stavrowsky loves jazz and you can see it in the way he combines traditional and modernist approaches in his compositions and in the abstractions that surround his central figures.
