Provenance: Scottsdale Art Auction, Scottsdale, AZ, 2010 Private collection, Michigan Adopted by the West, Clark Hulings’ body of work reveals a healthy sampling of Western subjects, but then it shoots out in every direction, from Spain, France and Mexico to stateside locations such as Mississippi, Louisiana and New York. This painting from the Chelsea neighborhood on the west side of Manhattan was painted in 2008, late in the artist’s long and distinguished career.
